The monitoring station is within a self-contained, air-conditioned housing located adjacent to the eastbound carriageway of the A4. This is a Four  laned road (two eastbound and two westbound). One of the eastbound lanes is reserved for buses and PSVs. The traffic flow has increased to an annual average daily flow of 35,000 vehicles. The manifold inlet is approximately 20 metres from kerbside and approximately 3 metres high. The surrounding area is generally urban background with business and light industrial premises.
