The monitoring station is within the basement of the existing museum building located at kerbside near a busy urban street. Traffic flow is approximately 10,000 vehicles per day along the 2-lane road which has high-storey buildings on either side. The manifold inlet is approximately 3 metres from the kerb and approximately 2 metres above ground level. The surrounding area is built up and comprises retail and business premises.
